Once again, finding this hotel in the center of a city with narrow medieval streets, many one way and/or restricted was a little challenging, but eventually we found our way - I'd be curious to know how well a GPS program helps in cases like this! We enjoyed the spacious room at the Hotel Alpi complete with desk and huge bathroom (still, only a shower). The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The rate was €69/night, with an additional €15/night for secure parking on the property. A generous buffet breakfast was included. From the hotel we were able to walk into the centro storico of Turin - the covered porticos make window shopping possible no matter what the weather! Additionally we walked through a beautiful park on our way to the Medieval Borgo, right along the river. The staff was pleasant and helpful, especially when we were trying to figure out just where "Eataly" was located and how to get there. Reviewed by: Janet Z from NY, review #2605 When: May 2009
The Hotel Alpi Resort is a great choice in Turin if you are arriving by car. It is quite easy to find and you can drive right to the front door. They have a limited number of on-site parking spaces (be sure to request and reserve one in advance!) for an additional E15 a night - well worth it. The location is right off the Piazza Vittorio Veneto and two blocks from the river - there are many cafes and restaurants right on the Piazza. The heart of Turin is about a 15-minute walk along the arcaded streets. The only area which is a bit of a long walk is the old Roman quarter. You might want to take a taxi if you were dining there. The hotel itself is clean, comfortable, business-style hotel and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms and the lobby are actually on the third floor of an older building (with elevator). Our room faced the inner courtyard and was quiet, with satellite tv, air conditioning, and a comfortable bed. We paid 84 euros for a double room, including your typical Italian continental breakfast; and an additional 15 euros for the parking.
