There are a lot of Americans in this hotel, so if that bothers you, this may not be your first choice. I'm sure one of the main reasons for all the Americans is aside from the English-speaking staff, the rooms are good size with modern "American" bathrooms with bath and shower. Our room (512) was a superior lakeview, and it had a king-sized bed, couch, desk, refrigerator, two chairs, television, armoir and a little entry hall. Out our French doors we had a little lawn area with chaise lounges and a table and chairs and fabulous views of the lake. The hotel is a five-minute walk up from the town, so your views are fantastic and you're a bit removed from any possible noise from the lake promenade. The view is actually of the Lecco side. Our double room with breakfast of soft-boiled eggs, meats, cheeses, breads, juice and coffee was €206, but you can receive a 5 percent discount if you pay in cash or European (euro) traveler's checks. I have never had a more spectacular view from a hotel room than from our bed and private balcony at the Hotel Belvadere in Bellagio. The views of Lake Como and the mountains were to die for. We stayed in room 414, which was a corner room with a private balcony that had recently been refurbished. The double room was large by European standards and the bathroom was spacious and modern with good hot water and water pressure. The bed was very comfortable. The room had air conditioning which we didn't need, a mini-bar and hair dryer. The grounds were very pretty with a pool and pool deck which we didn't use because it was too cold. The buffet breakast was very good and quite extensive in its offerings. The staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. We left very early in the morning to drive to Milan to catch a 10am plane, so they took our breakfast order the night before and it was ready for us without a problem. The hotel is a 3 minute stroll down a small incline to town with its many restaurants and shops. They redo a floor at a time and floors 3 through 5 are completed. Ask for a corner room on floors 3, 4 or 5 to insure a private balcony (lower floors had shared terraces) and the outstanding view.
