Genoa: Hotel Bristol Palace

A grand, old, somewhat fusty hotel in the middle of a busy shopping district. {4 stars}

We needed a place to stay for one night before flying out of Genoa. Though the service and hotel are fine, it has lost the sheen and newness that it must have had years and years ago. Old tiles and grout in the bathroom (though clean) and a general sense of not-yet-refurbished wallpaper, lights and furniture made it a bit tired.

The hotel is very large, and overlooks busy, noisy streets in all directions. Because it's large, it was also quite warm (in March) inside the hotel, so opening the windows brought in cool fresh air, but noise. This would not be a problem in AC weather, as the windows were very soundproof.

Service was excellent, and the rooms were very large, with very high ceilings, the bed and sheets comfortable, the price reasonable (around 130E).
