Charming hotel near minor canal, great value, fabulous spacious AC suite with great attention to detail, helpful friendly owners, short stroll from train station. {3 stars}

We loved this hotel! We felt quite spoilt as we were, through some stroke of luck, upgraded to the junior suite. This was air-conditioned and very spacious.

The hotel had several courtyards and a small rooftop patio which seemed largely unused (except by us). The attention to detail in the room was wonderful - all light fittings, soft furnishings, shutters etc. were really lovely and it was a beautiful room to wake up in. The views from the room over the canal outside were also really pleasant.

It was a quiet location, however - the shared toilet and breakfast kitchen were right near our room. As it happened, though, we were so thoroughly exhausted each night after exploring that we never heard a thing. The room seemed well soundproofed, too.

The owner was a lovely friendly lady who has lived there for 20 years or something and is native english speaker. I think we paid about €140 and it was an absolute bargain.

We found the hotel in the DK Eyewitness Top 10 hotels with charm, and that it was - a most charming and enjoyable place to stay.
