Great place to stay in Milan {3 stars}

Hotel Canada is a 3 star hotel on the edge of Milan's historic centre. It is within easy walking distance to the Duomo, and also close to Metro and tram stops for days when it is too hot to walk very far. We paid E100 per night for a double room in August 2011.

The front desk and housekeeping staff were very friendly and helpful. They provided us with excellent restaurant recommendations as well. Breakfast included coffee, tea, juice, pastries, cereals, fresh fruit salad, eggs and bacon. There was a free internet point in the lobby, or you could purchase 3 hours wifi for 5 euros if you want to use your own laptop.

Our bedroom and bathroom were both a good size. Our bed was comfortable and the mini bar was stocked with juice, soda pop and water (free of charge). The shower had good pressure and lots of hot water.

Besides visiting the bigger attractions in Milan, such as the Duomo and Santa Maria della Grazia, I enjoyed strolling around the immediate neighbourhood of our hotel, exploring small parks, wandering down the sidestreets and enjoying the lovely buildings.

Hidden gem; one metro stop from Duomo. {3 stars}

10 min walk or 1 metro stop from Duomo, 2-minute walk from Metro stop Missori.

Price: 95 euros for a triple w/breakfast included

Reception: lovely front desk staff, very friendly and helpful; has a nice lobby area, internet available, has 2 lifts

Rooms: we had 2 triples w/private bathroom Rooms very clean, comfortable beds and pillows, windows (on a business street – but you’re in Italy so you can always find something neat at which to look!), large bathroom with tub and shower, television

Breakfast buffet included – breakfast beverages, cereals, different types of pastries, sliced meats, cheese, rolls, crackers in a very beautiful setting one floor below ground level

Recommendation: would stay here again and recommend others to do the same!
