Great, clean, friendly hotel adjacent to the La Spezia train station, making it just 8 easy minutes from Riomaggiore and the Cinque Terre. EXCELLENT breakfast.

We wanted to stay in Cinque Terre but no hotel with a parking lot would answer our e-mails, so we settled for Hotel Firenze and it was a great, clean, friendly choice. There seemed to be lots of backpackers there, but I'd say they must be backpackers with money, because it's a very nice hotel.

Their little garage only holds about 4 cars, so if you are driving, be sure to reserve a space in advance. Also, the door in, and parking spaces, are tight tight tight. Good luck!

The train station is right across the street, trains run to CT every half hour or so, and it's an 8-minute trip. So staying at this hotel is almost like staying in CT except there's no up hill walk to get to your hotel room after dinner!

The hotel is modern, with high speed Internet in the room (for a fee), some English channels on TV, and good air conditioning. My room was on the 5th floor and had a large balcony with a great view ... of the train yard. But it was nice to sit out there at night and was also a good place to dry my laundry.

As I mentioned in the title, they had a great breakfast. Only problem was that the eggs, which are usually boiled in these places, were raw. They had a little note by them saying "eggs for cooking" but most in my group missed that, so we wasted several eggs before discovering the water bath by the eggs. The water's not very hot, so it took 10 minutes to cook an egg to soft-boiled, but in the end we had a great meal.

I'd say there again in a heartbeat.
