My mom and I stayed in this hotel the first week of November 2006. After months of trying to decide on a hotel I chose the Parione. Most of the reviews were favorable.

A little hard to find, there was a very small sign that said "hotel" above the door. We had to check in across the street at Hotel Smerelda. We were told upon check in that Hotel in Parione was no longer the name, that it was part of Hotel Smerelda now. Ok by us, just show us our room. We were given the key after leaving a 10 deposit. The deposit was returned after giving back the key upon departure.

We had to take care of our own luggage, which wasn't such a big deal. You have to get buzzed in the front door and then proceed through another door to the elevator. Small but big enough for 2 people and some luggage.

Everything appeared to be brand new. We were on the first floor room number 104. The room was small, but had the 2 beds that we requested. There was a nice sized desk and chair, ample closet and 2 nightstands. The beds were very close together with not much room for much else.

Everything in the room also looked brand new. Bathroom also looked new; all marble with a nice sink, counter space and bidet, and stall shower. Small shower, but the most powerful shower head I ever had. Hairdryer, shampoo and soap provided every day. Great towels replaced everyday, also.

The beds were narrow but very comfortable. Sheets seemed to be changed every day. The room was always spotlessly clean.

We had one window facing the Via dei Chiavari with shutters and a little iron grating. It turned out to be one of my favorite places to people watch. It could get a little noisy some nights, but it never kept me awake.

We almost never saw the other guests, and never heard them coming or going.

The location was one of the best features of the hotel. We were never more than a 15 or 20 minute walk from the major sights. It was about a 3 minute walk to the Campo Dei Fiori. Maybe 5 minutes to the Piazza Navona.

I can find nothing negative to say about this hotel. The front desk was friendly and helpful. The price was not to be beat. We paid approx. 640 euros for 7 nights. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
