Nice hotel on Ligurian coast near Portofino. {3 stars}

This hotel about 3 blocks up from the main square and water. It was very nice with very professional and friendly staff. The towels were really soft and everything had the hotel name on it - even the sheets! The room was small, but the shower was large and everything was decorated nicely. There is a safe and frigo bar in the room.

We were in room 404 - a double for 230,000Lire/night. We arrived at about 1AM, and the night man was really great - he even found us a restaurant close by that served us!! Made a call and bam - the best meal of our trip! The next day I had to make and receive a series of calls and the woman at the desk was wonderful - even taking detailed messages for me - all this after we had checked out.

Because we finished our dinner after 2:30 AM, we slept through breakfast, so I can't say how it is, but it is served on a very pretty outside terrace and looked like it might be a nice buffet. The hotel is very near the morning market, a fish market and a bunch of good food shops. They speak some English, but it's good to know some Italian.

My sister and her husband spent three days of their honeymoon at the Hotel Continental just around the bay from the Jolanda. They loved it, as did a couple we met on the train that was spending 4 days of their honeymoon there. My brother-in-law chose the Hotel Continental over the Jolanda because it has a beach. The Jolanda has a roof top terrace I think, but as mentioned, isn't far from the water and the public beach. My sister said the breakfast buffet at the Hotel Continental is huge, and was enough that they didn't need lunch.
