Very reasonable, lovely hotel with lake views

This is an excellent choice in Stresa if you are looking for a reasonably priced, family-run hotel and don't need the luxuries of the "grand-dames" of the town.

The location is great - surrounded by very lush gardens, with of course the namesake "Fontana," and a 15 minute walk to the center of Stresa along the lovely waterfront promenade. The hotel itself is not fancy - our room was adequate, if a bit small, but it had a huge balcony with lake view (see photo).

Note that the lake views here are obstructed by the mature trees and there really is no view from the garden or ground floor, if that's important to you.

The host/owner is very gracious and helpful and the breakfast was ample with cakes, pastries, cereals, meats and cheeses.

I'd stay here again if returning to Stresa. We paid 108 euros for a double room with balcony. Parking is included and on-site. Another nice touch, they required no advance deposit or even a credit card to hold the reservation.
