Very quiet!

We love La Rovere! This very pleasant small 3 star hotel is amazingly quiet, a rare find in Roma. We had stayed here a couple years ago and enjoyed it. (On our most recent trip we had originally booked a different hotel near Piazza Navona, to try something new, but the first night there was so noisy we quickly left and checked into our little sanctuary of La Rovere!)

The staff of La Rovere is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are decent-sized, spotlessly clean and some have balconies. The window glazing is excellent; when we closed our balcony doors the city noise muted to virtually nothing.

Nice location on a small alley-street, between Castel Sant'Angelo and Trastevere, so a fairly easy walk across the Tevere to the centro, and buses stop just a few steps down the hill. Rates have edged upward but we were given a rate of around $160.00 for a double in March. This hotel will be our first choice in Rome from now on!

Great location in Trastevere, 4 star quality.

Staff: Excellent. Attentive but not nosy, and friendly (they speak rudimentary English but prefer Italian).

Location: Perfect. It's quiet but close to everything (5 minute walk to St. Peter's, 10 minutes to Piazza Navona by way of Via dei Coronari). It's in Trastevere but don't let that scare you -- Trastevere is delightful, much better than the scrums around Campo dei Fiori or the Pantheon.

Rooms: Very nice, though it's a wee bit expensive. I love Roma but staying in a bad hotel can ruin your experience so why cheap out after spending thousands on airfare and such?

All in all, I don't stay anywhere else. A very nice three star that would be four if it were a bit more flashy or if it were located on Via Veneto.
