The only hotel in Monteriggioni. A gem in a unique Chianti town. {4 stars}

The Hotel Monteriggione is the only hotel in this small medieval town of about 60 residents, but I'd stay there again even if there were a dozen hotels within the town's walls.

I liked it because the staff was very gracious and helpful, the setting is so unique, and I had a comfortable, spacious room. The bathroom was huge - although the shower wasn't much larger than a telephone booth. A very nice, typical breakfast is offered in a spot overlooking the garden. There's a pool, but I didn't get to use it. I would love to stay there again.

Overpriced hotel, not recommended.

We recently stayed at the Hotel Monterigionni and were extremely disappointed. It is rated as a four star but should be three. The rooms are tiny and the bathrooms are poor at best. I feel it is overpriced at 210 euros (it’s the only hotel in the walled city so can charge more), although there are options close by which are better. The positives include the fact you can walk back to your room after eating at Il Pozzo. I do not recommend it for more than one night at best.
