Highly recommend this 3 star hotel for its great location half way between the train station and Piazza Maggiore (a 15 minute walk to both), the very friendly and helpful staff, great breakfasts and very reasonable price. The rooms are European small and not fancy but perfectly adequate for our needs with good water pressure and free wifi. Another bonus was that it was steps away from the fabulous restaurant Serghei! For $253 for 2 nights we thought it was a great value and I would be happy to stay here whenever I visit the great city of Bologna. Reviewed by: Monica Pileggi from MD, review #1461 When: May 2006
Room Rate quoted €76 for a double room (single use) with private bathroom and breakfast. I stayed in room 306, which was an interior room. It was very quiet at night, which I liked after staying in Florence. My room had a large bed, tv, desk and two outlets, room safe, large mirror in the bedroom and bathroom with plenty of bright lights; hair dryer. The shower was small but larger than the one in Florence and with an accordian door. The bathroom also had a small window. A/C too! I would definitely stay here again. As in Florence, the service and people were very friendly. Good location, only a 10 minute walk to the main piazza in town. Good restaurants nearby (Maristoca and Il Portico). This hotel is a little gem. I stayed here for 3 days the week before Christmas, and my room was €60. It's a small hotel with maybe 15 rooms, recently updated, steps off the via del'Independenza and about 3 blocks from the Piazza Maggiore, the main square in the center of the city. Breakfast included, though I never sampled. The staff were all extremely friendly, and all spoke English to varying degrees. One spent about 15 minutes trying to help me get my cell phone working properly when I couldn't translate the voice prompts fast enough. Really great service in a clean, polished atmosphere. I had one of the smaller rooms, if not the smallest, with a window open to a light well, but the furnishings were new and contemporary. The bathroom was small, with the smallest shower ever designed for mankind, yet immaculate, with new trappings (sink, shower, etc.) The lobby and stairwell had been recently updated, and had a bit of a do-it-yourself feel to the paint job and decor, but the rooms were much nicer, I thought. One caveat that I saw mentioned elsewhere, is that the bathroom fan is designed to emit "air freshener", a scent which just grosses me out, and I had to open the window each time the fan went on in the bathroom (when the light is activated) to get rid of the cloying faux-flower scent. If I needed an inexpensive place to stay, this would be it. BTW, I originally reserved this through Orbitz at €70, and called the hotel directly the next day and got the €60 price.
