Views of Tuscany that match your imagination. {3 stars}

3 Kms outside of San Gimignano, Hotel Pescille perches like an eagle above the hills of San G with a sweeping view of the perfect Tuscan countryside. Many things about this 3 star hotel are eminently likable: the grounds, view, gardens and our Superior double room for 130 euros with an adequate breakfast with its tiny balcony and the grand view out our window. Service is also good-tempered and helpful.

A few things to remember: ~Rooms are small and functional, baths are a bit peculiar - the tub is graded and has a "rise" which you need to watch when you're showering! ~The gorgeous swimming pool is not easy for any one with a physical challenge: it is an infinity pool with no grab bars to help you descend but only a set of three steep steps, all under water. ~There is no restaurant though they offer a nice and reasonably priced cold collation weeknights (12 euros).

That said, we loved the location, found it easy to drive into San G for dinner at night (when parking at lot 1 is much simpler), and only, regrettably, limited our wine intake because of the drive!
