Not recommended. Forgettable hotel near Rome airport.

Hotel Ping Pong is forgettable, claiming to view the mare, in fact it is across the street from a huge summer tourist building which is virtually abandoned off season. Ostia Lido is a pleasant enough town (must be mayhem in the summer) with a direct metro to Stazione Ostienza in Rome. The cab ride from Fiumicino was about $20 and was probably ten miles so its convenient enough. Ping Pong is not, in fact, what it claims to be in its web site, but its ok in a pinch.

Clean, functional, spartan hotel near Rome airport.

We stayed at the Hotel Ping Pong (love that name!) in Ostia Lido our last night of our Fall 2001 trip (flying from Rome airport the next day).

It was very spartan, but clean, and with an elevator. Our room faced the ocean. However, no A/C, as it was October - time to turn it off for the year! I don't know that I'd classify it as a 3 star; more like a 2 star. Clean, functional, spartan. The staff was really nice, though; very helpful. They assisted us in finding a restaurant which was recommended to me (Ristorante Turistica). It was a 5 minute walk around the corner, and the fish was very good. We sat outside and enjoyed our last night in Italy.
