Navona: Hotel Primavera

Piazza San Pantaleo, 3

This was a disappointing budget choice.

We selected this hotel based on Margo Classe's "Hello Italy" hotel guidebook. It supposedly had a terrace that guests could use. When we asked, we were told that the Piazza Navonna was our terrace, we should sit there. That's not entirely conducive to writing in a journal in the evening! Our bathroom (room 9) was mouldy. The bedspread was dingy and bleach stained. The room needed a paint job and the ceiling was peeling.

We laughed out loud when at precisely 9:30 AM the breakfast room door was locked so that no one could enter late. Those of us inside were locked in with bemused looks on our faces. Breakfast was OK; the usual coffee and a fresh rolls.

There were nice views from some of the other rooms, but ours overlooked an interior courtyard used as a parking lot. We were happy to leave after two nights.

Great location, bad breakfast room, be careful with owner - prices can change after booking.

This hotel is beatifully located with Piazza Navona right behind the corner. Our room had great view. Rooms are clean and convenient. Breakfast was included, but it was really bad. You can skip the breakfast, but no money back.

Be careful with the owner. We reserved the room over the phone and he told that the price is 110 euros. I did not bother to ask for a fax with confirmation. However, when we were checking out, he said that the price is 125 euros. And he kept our passports. And he doesn't take credit cards.

If you still decide to stay in this hotel, I would suggest to request written confirmation for the price.

Perfect Rome budget hotel.I agree with the other opinions. We will most definitely stay there again. Loved the owner and the staff.

Excellent location, simple decor, helpful staff. Hard beds and flat pillows.

Would I stay at this hotel again? Yeah, I probably would, because the location is so perfect.

My room was good sized, with a double bed, desk and chair and ensuite bathroom. I was grateful to have my small travel pillow to use in place of the flat hotel pillow. The large window overlooked a courtyard used for parking.

Piazza San Pantaleo is an excellent location - barely a five minute walk to Piazza Navona in one direction and Campo dei Fiori in another, less than ten minutes to the Pantheon.

Clean, lovely marble floors, simple decor, accommodating staff. 70 euros (winter rate) for a single room with bath; breakfast included. About a €7 taxi ride to/from the Termini train station.

Small, family run hotel in an apartment building between the Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona.

Hotel Primavera is small (16 rooms), family run hotel in an apartment building between the Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona. This is a terrific location in the historic center of Rome within walking distance to major attractions, restaurants, and shops.

The rooms are attractive, clean, spacious, bright and comfortable (at least ours were on the 5th floor) with air conditioning and hair dryers. The bathrooms are very modern. The hallways are nicely decorated and have marble floors and there is a working elevator. Vittorio, the owner, speaks English and was very helpful in pointing out cafes, etc. We arrived very early in the morning and although our room wasn't ready, they let us store our luggage in it while we toured the area.

The nearby Campo dei Fiori has many cafes/bars for a quick bite or espresso and is a fun people watching spot. Breakfast, which is included in the very reasonable price (€100 for a double with private bath), is the standard fare; rolls, jam and not so great coffee. We frequented the nearby cafes after the first morning. I think the beds were comfortable (at least they don't stand out as being uncomfortable 2 years later).

The location could be a bit noisy in the very early morning but that is the only negative I can recall. I would not hesitate to stay there again and have recommended this hotel to friends for upcomming trips in June and September 2002. They accept reservations by phone or fax and it is a cash only establishment with a bank check needed to hold your reservation.
