I spent 3 nights at the Hotel San Carlo on the Via delle Carrozze in Rome - April 30 through May 3, 2010. Wonderful location one street closer to the Tiber from the Via Condotti, no cars, extremely modern inside (all white marble and nice wood trim), free wi-fi, ELEVATOR (looked new), beautiful terrace on the 4th floor, breakfast included (nothing spectacular and I was the first person in the room each day), a/c-heat-fan controlled in the unit, helpful English-speaking people at the front desk, international clientele . . . but the smallest and most uncomfortable bed you can imagine. I actually think it was smaller than a twin and rock hard (but the pillows were nice). So, if you ask for a single, be aware that the bed will be small or smaller than usual. In Italy, it is common for a "single" to be a twin bed, but this seemed more narrow. Other than that, it's a great find for E125/night. I would stay there again if I were looking in this price range, but I might ask for a "double for single use". This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
