When: October 2006

Very well located near St. Mark's Square, in Via XXII Marzo -- a large street with most fashonable shops. Great service and great room!

Room was nice and quiet and service just remarkable. I would surely go back there!

When: June 2003

Great location, great service, great rooms. {4 star}

Our family of 5 stayed at this hotel in 2003. We read reviews that were plus and minus, but decided, after all, to stay there because we thought the location was good; walking distance 5 minutes to St. Mark's Square and to several vaporetto stops. We were not disappointed.

We had 2 rooms, a double for me and my husband, and a triple for our 3 teens; rooms #37 and #38. The rooms connected through the 2 bathrooms. We had a room on the street; very quiet at night and the kids had a room over the courtyard. The bathrooms were a good size, as were the bedrooms. Beds were comfortable, towels fluffy (a must for some) and armoires in each room. Lighting was fine in the rooms, although some people have said that the lighting was terrible. Rooms were very clean, service very helpful.

The room rate included a very substantial breakfast. It included eggs, bacon, meats, cheeses, breads, yogurt, fresh fruit, pastries, juices, cafe and cappuccino. We were able to sit in the courtyard and linger for as long as we liked.

There is a very small reception area where you check in, but if you go up the stairs in the back of the hotel, there is a bigger sitting area, and further up the stairs on the 4th floor is an outdoor courtyard, for sipping coffee or wine, with views of the Venice rooftops.

All this for a rate of (the equivalent of) US$288 per night for everything. That included both rooms and breakfast, for 5 people. Ask for any specials they may have if you stay for 3 nights or more. The front desk staff was extremely helpful, beginning with my inquiries via email, to making reservations and recommendations for restaurants. The Caravalle restaurant is in the hotel. We did not eat there, but have heard it is very good. We had a wonderful experience at this hotel.
