... I had several questions that she did answer, however I got the impression she was annoyed. She didn’t smile once. Our room was on the 4th floor and it was very dark. The walls had gold coloured fabric panels and the floor was carpeted in dark blue - I guess to insulate any noise. The queen sized bed was comfortable but the pillows very flat and there weren’t any extras in the closet. I broke out in a rash after lazing on the bedspread - I should have known better to just remove it as soon as we arrived as I’ve heard that hotels don’t always change the bedspread as each new guest arrives. The bathroom looked like it had been renovated and was a little more modern than the actual sleeping area. There was lots of hot water and lots of pressure. The room was very quiet at night except for the air conditioner, that can be controlled by the guests. We kept the window closed and didn’t hear any street noise at all. The next morning, we weren’t very hungry but the breakfast looked ok. We had croissants and ordered “coffee” expecting to get espressos, but instead we were served instant coffee that was horrible. I guess we should have been more detailed. I did see bread, granola, orange juice and yogurt. When we checked out, we had the same stone-faced receptionist. Although Hotel Selene is in close proximity to Termini (~5 minute walk), we wouldn’t stay there again. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |

We booked this based on a good review on the Slow Talk forums. The price was right: 70E. We arrived and found the receptionist to be rather “chilly” towards us.
