Fabulous hotel with stunning views on the Amalfi Coast. {4 stars}

This was our splurge hotel on this trip to Italy and was worth every euro. I generallly prefer to spend my money on food and wine but when I couldn't book a less expensive hotel because of a minimium stay requirement, the website of this hotel won me over. This hotel was even more beautiful than the website depicted. In fact, this is one of the nicest 4 star hotels I have stayed at anywhere. It certainly had the most spectacular views and sunsets (and I didn't think anything could beat the views at the Belvedere in Bellagio). We arrived at 11 am and were shortly given the happy news that we had been upgraded to a deluxe suite and shown to our lovely room. They told us they like to make their customers happy when they can. The fabulous, spacious room had beautiful tile designs on the floors and walls, a private seaview terrace with a view of the Faraglioni rocks of Capri, a sitting area with comfortable sofa and TV and a very comfortable King sized bed. And have I mentioned the beautiful roses on the dresser? I wondered what I had done in a past life to deserve all this beauty! The bathroom was large and modern with all the ammenities you would expect in a 4 star hotel. Lots of hot water with good shower pressure, lage towels, a hairdyer and slippers.

The Espisito family who have run this hotel for 50 years are very professional and just plain nice, taking a personal interest in your comfort and needs. Staff would routinely ask how you spent your day upon returning from an excursion.

The breakfast room also had spectacular sea views and the breakfast buffet selection had something for everyone; cereal, fruit, delicious home made tarts, croissants, bread, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, meat and cheese. There is a good sized pool on the roof with those same stunning views and a private beach (neither of which we used as it was tooo cool).

The location was convenient for travel to Amalfi Coast towns as it is located 4 kms from Positano and 9 kms from Amalfi and the bus stopped right in front of the hotel. Despite being on the main road, the hotel was extremely quiet and peaceful. It was also a nice respite from the crowds in Positano. Although we didn't partake in any, tours were also available to many coastal spots.

The sunsets were so spectacular that it was hard to motivate ourselves to leave the room. Happily there were 2 terrific restaurants close by: La Strada and Le Brace(reviwed on this site) across and just down the street. The hotel also has a well regarded restaurant (that we didn't try) if you really don't want to move.

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. Our orginal superior room with a seaview was 210, the deluxe 250. Money well spent for such beauty and great service. I would stay here again in a heartbeat should I return to the Amalfi Coast.
