Hotel Tuscania Panoramico is a Winner {3 stars}

Hotel Tuscania Panoramico is the closest hotel to historic Tuscania, just 700 meters from the western city gate, and eight minutes on foot from the terminus of the COTRAL buses which travel to Viterbo and Tarquinia.

I spent two nights here in mid-May 2012, in a large and very comfortable double room with an exceptionally large and clean bathroom (complete with bathtub). The hotel is modern and up-to-date, with a large, cheerful breakfast room and friendly staff.

Tuscania is an engrossing tourist destination, and its two large, ancient and venerable churches on its eastern fringes -- San Pietro and Santa Maria Maggiore -- are exceptional to behold. It is a small and very clean town, and provides a relaxing break from more demanding destinations such as Viterbo and, of course, Rome.

If your aim is Tuscana and nothing more, you can even dispense with a car, as all sights are within easy walking distance, and the COTRAL buses provide adequate connections to both Viterbo and Tarquinia.
