1-star hotel with a walk up 84 steps; this hotel was so-so. Bathroom could be better; view was wonderful. Friendly staff. Recommend this hotel on a budget.

This hotel was right in the heart of Piazza Duomo. I asked for a view and got one, but 84 steps up! No lift in the hotel. For a 1-star cheap hotel, it was ok but the bathroom could have been better!

Last morning there, I woke up to cold water in the shower. At first I thought maybe I forgot which knob to turn. Perhaps it was the blue instead of the red? After a discussion with the maid and then waiting while she called the desk, she told me "tutto kaput!" - meaning all the hot water was not working in the hotel! I have to say, the hotel was very accommodating by arranging with a hotel 2 doors down (which they also owned) to let me take a shower there.

So, 84 steps down and then 2 doors down, I was able to find a shower with hot water. Luckily I brought a towel and soap as there was nothing there for me. After finishing my shower and walking down the street with wet, uncombed hair and then back up 84 steps to my room, I finished packing to catch my train. Good thing I woke up extra early as to not miss my train!

I probably would stay at a more luxurious hotel next time, at least 2-star, but it was an adventure. Love the town!
