Effortlessly lovely... {4 stars}

Having ruled out a few other options due to price, availability and off-season closings, we rolled the dice and navigated the very confusing Taormina streets to luck into the Villa Paradiso.

It was in our Frommer's guidebook as a "find" (btw - "Frommer's Sicily" is an excellent guide book, unlike other Frommer's) and our stay validated that claim. I was able to negotiate a room with a terrace and incredible view of Mount Etna and the sea for €120 per night.

The rooms were individually decorated and pleasant (we could see Etna out of our shower/bath window!). The hotel staff was beyond sweet, friendly and very helpful. And Prospero the house dog was a hoot. Breakfast was satisfactory. The hotel is located right on the goregous public gardens and is a quick walk to the Corso - the heart of Taormina.
