Comfortable accommodations; charming hosts. We'll be back!

We travelled to Tuscany with our two young children (3 & 5). Our schedule was to have a healthy breakfast (granola, cereal, furti, coffee, breads and cheeses) on the beautiful veranda each morning at Il Borghetto.

We then ventured off for a half-day of sightseeing in the area including Greve, Lucca, Viareggio and the home town of the writer of Pinocchio. We bought fresh Italian meats, cheeses and vegetables at the ubiquitous Co-op's and headed back to Il Borghetto for a light lunch.

The afternoons were spent around the beautiful pool and relaxing at the inn. Dinners, prepared at Il Borghetto by the fabulous chef, were incredible. Home cooking, Italian style. Parents and kids were in heaven. Paired with a nice wine from the day's adventure the dining experience was unmatched. There are also many excellent local restaurants nearby. The accommodations were very comfortable. The website shows the rooms quite well. All the modern facilities are in place but the great feeling of the old, stately villa comes through. Ilaria, Michele and their young daughter made us feel so welcome. Their English in perfect and their hospitality unmatched. They are great hosts; very casual, very fun to be around. Our kids played together on the property including visits to the ancient Etruscan tomb which is a few minutes hike out the back door in the middle of Il Borghetto's olive orchard. How to summarize? Well, my wife is very picky about accommodations. She loved it and this says a lot. My family and I will definitely be back.
