IL FAE, a comfortable B&B near Conegliano, is in a fabulous location for seeing two of the highlights of the Veneto – the Dolomites and Venice. Staying there, you can do one or both easily. IL FAE is located in a breathtakingly beautiful valley. The view from this place is amazing. It is located in the foothills of the Dolomites, and behind those green and vine covered foothills, the jagged tops of snow-covered Dolomites can be seen. These foothills are a very popular mountain biking and hiking destination. In this area, is the ancient forest of the Cansiglio, which was originally the forest belonging to the rulers of ancient Venice and provided most of the wood used in the construction of the city. If you want an alpine adventure, you can surround yourself with the peaks of the Dolomites in about an hour-- it’s an easy trip and the drive up the Cadore valley to Cortina is gorgeous. When you wish to go to Venice, you can catch the train from Conegliano, and be on the Grand Canal in less than an hour. It’s a lot easier than taking your car into the area around Venice. Sabina and her husband Salvatore are friendly and caring, and they speak excellent English. Sabine is a great resource, and can give you advice to make the most of your choices. She also has a lot of historical information about the area. The renovation of a family farmstead that has belonged to Sabina’s family for three generations has been done tastefully. Our bedroom was light and airy with views out over the valley, vineyards, and the foothills of the Dolomites. The bath was large and modern.
