Great central location, but a little tired. {4 stars}

This hotel located in a historic building has one of the best locations on the town's pedestrian and flat Corso Vannucci. It's a short stroll to practically everything.

We were given a good sized corner room with a view out over the rooftops. We never heard anyone else in the hotel. Our room had been completely redecorated and modernized probably 15 years ago with matching carpet, wall coverings, curtains and bedspread, and false ceiling. In the room itself, there was almost no trace of the historic building left.

When the hotel redecorated, they decided to affix padded cloth wall coverings to all the walls including the hallways. So there is no way to fix it when it is dirty or dinged, short of replacing the whole thing (which apparently they choose not to do).

Our room had water stains around the windows where rainwater must have leaked in, and you could see dirty spots and the white batting behind the cloth where the walls had been banged into in the hallways. This gave it the air of having seen better days. For 4 star prices, it's a little down at the heel.

The staff was professional, and the breakfast, served in a pleasant room on the second floor, was average.
