Comfortable and convenient 4 star hotel in central Parma.

I recommend this hotel, but be forewarned that the facade is one of those dreary post-WWII buildings. In other words, there is not much charm, but it is comfortable and in a central Parma location. I believe it caters mostly to business travelers, attending Parma's many trade fairs.

We stayed here in the 3rd week of December when some of my other choices were closed for the season. We had stayed previously in the Hotel Verdi and liked it, but in late December we did not want to have to walk through the Parco Ducale to get to the Centro. I realized that this was a post-modern construction hotel, but the location sold it for me.

We received prompt and courteous replies to e-mails and we were given a great rate: €90 per night. We were given a junior suite, which could use some refreshing, but was clean and comfortable. The room had a substantial balcony with a view over the neighboring rooftops. The bathroom was done in marble and was also clean and comfortable.

We never ate at the hotel restaurant, Maxim's, but we had a grappa nightcap every evening in the bar. We loved the bar and the barman.
