Sorrento: Pensione Linda

Budget family run hotel, no views, but great if you're just looking for a place to sleep.

Pensione Linda is located fairly close to the train station (about a 5 minute walk) on the main road above the station. I don't remember what floor of the building (4th? 5th?) but after a few stairs to get into the building, there is an elevator to get you up. The hotel is run by a family, which as far as I can tell lives there. The mother did not seem to speak any English, but the young duaghter spoke a little. They were both very nice and welcoming.

The only downside to this hotel was that I had reserved a single room (with bath) for 35 a night, but when I arrived was told that they had no singles, but I could have a double (at - of course - 45 a night). I thought about arguing with them over the price, as I had reserved a single, but was tired and just wanted to drop off my stuff and go meet my friends.

Other than that, the rooms were very clean, the beds comfortable, there was a big window (although it just looked into the building's courtyard) and the bathroom/shower was very nice. I always appreciate it when I find a hotel that has a real shower, with sliding doors.

The walk to the center took about 10 minutes. The hotel's not in the middle of all the action, but Sorrento is so small that it didn't bother me, and I had no problems returning to the hotel several times throughout the day to drop off or pick things up.

There are no views from the hotel, but there are plenty to be had from elsewhere in town. It's a great place just for quiet sleeping, which in my opinion is all you should do in a hotel, anyway - the rest of the time you should be out enjoying the town. :)
