Good hotel in a great location. Some negatives ...

I booked the Lucchesi for the location and the reputation of the hotel. While it was a good experience, I would personally not return as there are better options for the price in Florence.

The rooms are very dated, especially the bathrooms. It was impossible to regulate the room temp so we had to open the windows for fresh air, which meant a lot of noise. While the views were great and the bed was comfortable, the rest was not up to my expectations. Breakfast was disappointing; front desk staff ok.

Also, it is very popular with tour groups, a negative IMO.

Very small room; sporadic air conditioning; disappointing breakfast. Excellent location.

We stayed at this four star hotel for three nights. The location was very good but this large hotel was not particularly friendly. We were very disappointed in the buffet breakfast. Our Classic Double room (278 euros including taxes and breakfast) was very small; we could barely walk around the bed. The bathroom was very small, too.

The room was hot and the air conditioning was off. There was no control in the room. When we called the front desk, they told us the air conditioner doesn't come on until a certain temperature is reached, and to open the windows. With the absence of screens we were bitten by mosquitos during the night. (The hotel is situated right by the Arno River.) After complaining, the hotel staff turned on the air conditioning.

The excellent location was the best feature of this hotel, but we would not recommend it to others. Recommended by Sally Watkins, CTC.

Elegant, well-located midsize hotel in the Santa Croce area, right on the Arno. Large room, good service, nice public areas and lovely views. {4 star}

I was a solo traveller for nine days at this 4-star hotel and had one of the largest singles I've ever had in Italy. The rate was 171 per night inclusive with breakfast, which was an excellent deal, I thought, for a spacious well-appointed room (desk & chair, armchair and table) with a balcony overlooking the Arno.

The location is very good, especially if you want to be well-located yet not right plunk in the noisy center. There is enough of a neighborhood feel that you can patronize some shops and buy the makings of a nice lunch, or even dinner, which you can then eat on your own balcony overlooking the Arno. The hotel has a lobby with nice couches an armchairs, and a bar.

The clientele was a mixture of Europeans and Americans traveling on their own, with the occasional Italian tour group.
