Be aware that this is for those looking for a budget B&B ... nothing fancy here. Although the location is great - within walking distance to the Forum/Colliseum, and close to the Cavour Metro stop - the rooms are slightly tired, the beds not quite as firm, and the bathrooms are small. On the bright side, the price was right (105 euros for a triple), the room itself was large and spacious, and there was air conditioning avaialble. The location was fairly quiet, and with the AC running at night, any street noise was blocked out. (Even without the AC, there's very little street noise at night.) The mattress on the small rollaway bed was pretty tired and saggy, but our 14 yr old grandson slept okay. The mattress on our double bed was slightly better; adequate but nothing more. Our private bathroom was tiny, and the shower was a challenge. The hook to hold the sprayer was misssing, meaning you had to hold it in your hand the entire time. The shower stall was like a tiny tub, with two levels, making it difficult to stand ... and I think the idea is that you're suppposed to sit down in the back portion which was lightly raised, making a small seat. This was a rather tight fit for my husband, and not all would find it comfortable. The continental breakfast was simple: coffee, juice and croissants. The chatty owner gave our grandson 2 chocolate cakes as a treat, unable to resist being a grandmother! When saving money is important, I would definitely consider the Red Rose. Perhaps other budget options are available closer to the train station, or further away from the main sites, but for us, the Red Rsoe gave us a good rate in a good location. For short stays, this is a good option. Reviewed by: forensicsgirl from Germany, review #1899 When: May 2007
