Il Faloniere is an elegant country hotel highlighted by an extremely attentive staff, and the pleasure of fine, exquisite cuisine. Simple, yet refined.

We spent 8 days at Il Falconiere. By the time we left, we felt like we were leaving family. Don't get me wrong here, this is a very refined bunch. No pat-you-on-the-back good mornings; just totally at your service with a friendly greeting, a gracious smile tending to your every want. Not hovering, just individuals who are interested in making your stay memorable.

We had the least expensive room, which was delightful. Beautiful tile floors, antique furnishings, comfortable bed with the finest linens, large bath with a footed tub, french doors that looked out over the Val di Chiana and up to Cortona. Our daughter and son-in-law had a junior suite which was gorgeous and huge. Their website bears a true description of the property, its history and surroundings and is exactly what you find there in person.

It was quiet and tranquil, roses of every color and kind everywhere, along with many other types of trees, flowers and plants. The only noise we noticed was birds chirping! Certainly one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had.

The restaurant served the best meals we had in Italy - we dined there three times. We had a wedding dinner and reception (for only eleven people) and it was exquisite. This is not a bargain hotel or restaurant by any means, but if you really want to treat yourself for a special occasion, Il Falconiere is definitely it.

An example of their delightful attention: our daughter, who was married in Cortona, was dressing for the wedding and needed (wished for, I should say) a full-length mirror - you know the kind they sell at WalMart for $4.99. We called Sabina at the desk to ask if there was something like that on the property. No, but she would make sure we had something to use quickly. In short order, two of the attendants showed up carrying a large, georgeous, gold-leaf gilded mirror - looking like something from a museum! They placed it in several locations around the room, making sure to get just the right light on the bride, it was so dear - hilarious, really, but so very thoughtful. And, they all, including Sabina who made it happen, acted like it was their pleasure to accommodate us.

Il Falconiere was an overall wonderful experience for us and we highly recommend it to anyone seeking a luxury, yet simple holiday stay.
