Wonderfully Hospitable Hotel

Relais Palazzo di Luglio is a gem of a hotel, sitting on the outskirts of Sansepolcro, birthplace of Piero della Francesca. The hotel is owned and operated by a husband/wife/daughter team.

The hotel was opened in 2002, following extensive renovations to an existing palazzo. There are 4 rooms and 10 suites. My husband and I took a junior suite, priced (July, 2008) at 160E. Our suite was in fact one huge room with a sitting area and countryside views from all windows.

There are lovely grounds and a large, well maintained swimming pool. We had arrived hungry and asked for lunch. The owners ordinarily do not serve lunch but did so for us. It might well have been the finest pasta we have ever eaten and convinced us to have dinner there both nights.
