Malpensa Terminal 1: Sheraton Malpensa

Malpensa Airport

Reviewed by: jhdflyer from FL, review #2959

When: October 2010

Elegant, Spacious Hotel Located at Airport.

The Sheraton Malpensa is located at MXP above the train station and a 2 minute walk to T1. Nothing could be more convenient when arriving or departing MXP.

It is new, very modern in design and has a huge lobby, corridors and dining area. In the lobby there are about 10 computers with free internet access but they are not connected to printers-hopefully they will be in the future. If you want to print boarding passes you need to get the personal email address of a desk clerk and send him, or her, an email with your boarding passes attached--it takes minimal time--and the clerk will print them for you.

Most of the outside walls are glass and room drapes are covered with a silver reflective material on the outside to reflect the heat and sun.

The dining room and lounge are on the first floor and breakfast begins at 6:00 a.m. It is quite large and the wait staff is excellent. Outside the dining area is a lounge with computers in several areas.

The rooms are equipped with 35 inch wall mounted TVs with a menu of movies, radio and TV stations. The room we had was US size, as well as the bath, and the bed was very comfortable. It was E123 per night and they had upgrades if you wanted but the basic king-sized bedroom is certainly adequate.

Dinner with four glasses of wine, primi piatti and dessert, was E59.

The hotel has been open since October and at this time only the third floor is available; floors one and two are still being worked on. It is located across the street from the airport, directly above the train station so if you take a shuttle train to MXP, and go up the escalator from the station, you will see 2 immense bronze doors with the name Sheraton in the back wall. Do not take the tunnel/sottopassagio to the airport terminal.

From Terminal 1, follow the signs on the floor to the train station and when you come out of the tunnel turn right and you will see the Sheraton.

We stayed at the Villa Malpensa on our arrival, and the Sheraton Malpensa when leaving.
