Ischia: Strand Hotel DelfiniVia Nuova Cartaromana, 68

A dump, albeit with a beautiful view.
The only positive thing is that it has a magical view. It's a shame that it doesn't take advantage of its enviable setting to provide a really nice property. Instead, it is run down and shabby, definitely not maintaining the four-star status it apparently once received.
Wanting a weekend getaway, it looked like a nice place to relax and enjoy the thermal pools. We left after one sleepless night and sought refuge elsewhere. Staff was gruff and indifferent. Nothing worked - the hydro-massage shower in our room was broken, the mini-bar was broken, and the heat control was broken, so we had to open the balcony door to keep from suffocating (in January!) The indoor thermal pool wasn't working properly (and we had doubts about its cleanliness.) The stairs and hallways were dirty, the room wasn't very clean, and I was bitten by a spider in bed!
Then there is the noise. We heard everything from the rooms around us - everything! Every word, the kids crying, the coins dropping on the floor, the TV. It was worse than my college dorm room for noise. We got very little sleep.
In the morning we fled, unable to contemplate two more nights of this. (The manager of the hotel we went to, seeing us desperate and obviously changing hotels, immediately guessed that it was the Strand Delfini we were leaving, not a good sign!)
The photos on their website were taken several years ago, apparently, because they don't reflect the run-down condition and bad service of the place now.
