I sayed at Villa Angela as part of a small tour group so the hotel was picked by our guide. I'm not sure I would have sprung for such an luxurious hotel myself but I'm sure glad our tour guide did! This was one of the loveliest hotels I have stayed at in Italy. The views from the large terrace were spectacular, the room was beautifully decorated, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom spacious and modern and the staff overall very accommodating. The breakast buffet was bountiful and even the coffee was pretty good. It is owned by a Scottish musician and a local partner and they have done a very nice job in providing their guests with all the amenities one would expect in a well done 4 star hotel. The only downside of Villa Angela is that it is located 20 minutes (walking time) high above the town of Taormina. While that makes for stunning views, you do have to reserve the mini bus to take you back and forth or pay 12 euos for a taxi. The mini bus was usually available but we did take a taxi twice. You could certaintly walk down to Taromina but you would have to be in very good shape to walk up that very steep hill! That being said, it was worth not being right in town for the views and overall loveliness of the hotel. It was a romantic spot and I'd love to go back with my husband!
