This four-star hotel has been our Tuscany "base" for two years. We have always stayed on the veranda level in a room that overlooks the olive orchards and vineyards.

We can watch the sunrise or sunset from the veranda and invite guests to join us for a glass of Prosecco or Chianti - no matter what time of day. The staff is courteous and the manager, Umberto, is friendly and accommodating. He will go out of his way to make sure you are enjoying your day. If you need help planning a day trip, he will take care of all the details.

The villa also has a restaurant and the chef, Aldo, is remarkable. His recipes for wild boar, sea bass and lamb are exquisite; his 17 years of training have served him well.

As an added touch, we had a cooking class one day with Aldo. He taught us to make bread, chicken pate, pasta, lasagna with wild boar sauce, seared veal roast and then we taught him how to make Cajun-style Bread Pudding - which he then put on the menu that evening for our Slow Travel guests.

The cost for a room on the veranda was 200 a night and this included breakfast each day. We highly recommend this villa sanctuary amoung the hills of Chianti.
