A comfortable, elegant hotel in a beautiful setting. Not to be missed.

The Villa Cipriani is just that - an elegant villa from the 1600's that has been reincarnated into a luxurious hotel. We have stayed there twice, and have had lovely rooms with views of the gardens and surrounding hills each time. The furniture seems like antiques, even if it's not, and the floors in the main house must be original. The bathrooms are marble with huge fluffy robes and towels. Service is friendly and discrete. The desk staff is always willing to help with suggestions and directions, and in fact, sent us to Monte Grappa (now a favorite place) for the first time.

The rack rate is outrageous, but we have never paid more than US$185 per night by booking with our travel agent, who finds us the "businessman's special" or some such thing. It's an amazing hotel and Asolo is a lovely little town to explore.
