Fantastic luxury hotel -- especially for Starwood members!

This is a beautiful luxury hotel on the Via Veneto. We used Starwood points for our stay, and we were very happy that we also got upgraded to a suite at check-in. This was such a wonderful perk since I was traveling with my husband and 2 young boys. It was nice to have the extra room for the boys.

Staff was very pleasant. After we settled in our room, the concierge sent up a welcome gift of a bottle of wine, fruit bowl and a lovely book on Rome, complete with overlays of ancient/modern Rome. Also, as we were leaving the hotel one morning, my 2 y.o. slipped on the marble steps. I moved fast, BUT not as quickly as the concierge! I've never seen anyone move so fast! Luckily, my son was fine.

Our suite was unbelievable -- 2 GIANT rooms... one large marble bathroom with separate shower and bath, and a separate living/dining room. All this plus a nice view and a extra foyer where we could store the double stroller.

The hotel has a pool and healthclub in the basement. Our boys enjoyed the pool after long days of sightseeing.

We didn't eat at the restaurant, so I can't comment on that.

Location was not super central, but it wasn't as bad as I imagined. We still managed to walk everywhere, including Trastevere (but not the Vatican.) AND, with young children, it was nice to be close to Villa Borghese and Borghese Gardens. The Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain were also quite close. Hotel Eden was a block away, and we enjoyed bellinis on their rooftop terrace one evening.

It was also convenient for picking up our rental car in Villa Borghese, and a quick getaway out of the city.

I can't comment on how the hotel would fare for me if we had paid money AND stayed in one of their standard rooms, but we were thrilled with our treatment and our stay. We've already booked a second reservation for next summer's trip to Italy. Hope we get another suite!!
