How to Set Up an Account on Jumpy.it for Free Internet Access

Pauline Kenny and Steve Cohen

Jumpy (www.jumpy.it) is a free ISP (Internet Service Provider) in Italy. You pay only for the phone call to go online (this is paid on the phone that you are using). Go to their website to create a free account. You can also get email through this account, but you probably will not use that. The Jumpy site is in Italian, so we have a translation here.

Read more about Using the Internet while traveling in Europe.

Note, this is for dialup access to the Internet, using a phone line with your computer.

How to Connect to the Internet With Jumpy

To dialup for internet access, set your modem to dial this number in Italy for Jumpy: 702 701 0702. You pay only for a local call and you pay on the phone that you are using; you do not pay through Jumpy. Login with the account name and password that you set up with Jumpy (see below).

If possible, try your Italy access number from home before you leave. Dial the access number long distance to see if you can login and go online. (Note, on the message board, someone said the Jumpy number can only be dialed from in Italy.)

Note: Check the phone number that Jumpy gives you; it may be different than the one in this example. They give you an Italian phone number. Dial just as it is given from Italy. To test from the US, dial the international long distance code then country code. For example: 011-39-702 701 0702.
