Very friendly restaurant serving traditional food, with a few seasonal specials.
This is a small trattoria on the edge of the Centro, a nice place for typical Bolognese cooking.
We had two glasses of decent sangiovese. We shared an antipasto of a flan of goat cheese with mushrooms. Nice play of the cool flan with warm mushrooms. Next, I had lasagna, which was amazingly delicate considering it had eight thin layers of pasta, meat, and besciamella. My husband had a special of tagliatelle with asparagus and smoky guanciale. There was no way we could finish this and also eat our shared secondo, so our leftovers were thoughtfully boxed up. For our secondo we shared a perfect carpaccio, shaved raw beef with arugula and parmesan, dressed with lemon and olive oil. Fantastic. No room for anything more than espresso. Perfect first lunch in Italy, and a very fair price. (52 euros) I'd definitely go back.

Al Sangiovese is the little Italian ristorante that we all love - small, warm and welcoming, and wonderful food. We shared an antipasto of grilled vegetable, my husband ordered lasagna Bolognese, and I had the veal scallopine with asparagus and Parmesan cheese sauce - fabulous! We asked for a nice local wine and were served the Tre Re Sangiovese that we grew to love in Bologna, 12 euros per bottle. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed using our Italian. Biscotti by request with your coffee! Reasonable prices, reservations necessary.
