Attractively furnished restaurant, with imaginative Primi, and decent Secondi alla griglia. No fish, no pizza.

Directions: Up the hill behind Piazza Plebiscito

Nicely decorated in shades of brown & orange, with a huge faded antique mirror. A really interesting range of Primi; the Secondi are essentially grilled meats, so this is the place to go if you want a temporary escape from Neapolitan pizza/seafood. The menu has some truly dreadful translations into English (automated Google-type, I'd guess)! Primi €6-8, secondi €7-11, and a fairly extensive wine list: we chose a Pugliese Primitivo di Manduria, recommended in the Time Out review, €13.50: excellent. (This was before our new-found fascination with all things Pugliese...!)

3 of us ate for €76. Primi: Risotto ai funghi porcini, Gnocchi con mozzarella (& tomato sauce: more interesting than it sounded), Paccheri with tomatoes and peppers. Secondi: Tagliata con rucola, Salsicce di campagna, Pork cutlet with hot peppers. Contorni: grilled radicchio, spinaci al burro. 3 coffees. I don't know whether the family comes from central Italy, but the menu does have an Umbrian/Marchese feel: and the primi were nicely prepared and more interesting than the secondi (though the latter were very tasty, and skillfully grilled).
