best meal in or near Rome

Directions: on the main street of the old town, a few blocks from the city square

We went looking for the Vino Tinto restaurant, which had received a good rating on this website, but it was only open for dinner - asked the woman at the café next door and she directed us to this trattoria. It was far and away better than anything we had in the city of Rome, and I'd highly recommend it for anyone wishing to visit the Villa d'Este. 60 euros for two, including a bottle of quite acceptable regional wine, with a shared antipasto and shared salad, and a main dish each.
