Directions: If coming from Catania, head towards Belpasso, then up to Nicolosi, following the signs for Etna. A restaurant located in Nicolosi, the last town “up Etna” on the southern mountain side. Attached to the restaurant is the only ice-skating rink in Sicily. I have been to this restaurant many times with both small and large groups. Each time we have had set meals consisting of pre-antipasti (thin and semi crisp focaccia with herbs and sometimes lightly dusted with tomatoes), antipasti plate (quite varied with approximately 7 or 8 tastes, eggplant, mushrooms, cheeses, prosciutto, olives, etc.), two pastas (one will vary, the other we usually request that is a pistacchio patč filled ravioli in a white creamy pistacchio sauce) (or we have requested a pasta and risotto), second dish of fish or meat, dessert or sweets or fruit, wine, water and a digestivo. For our meal we pay a set price of 20 Euro per person. Another time we had a fish based meal, with the antipasto being some normal basics but plus salmon and other seafood, the pastas and second were fish based. The family that owns this restaurant purchases their fish fresh daily from the well-known fish market in Catania, and have been known to say “no, we weren’t happy with the fish today, so we won’t be serving any”! The service here is excellent, and the restaurant is very popular with people from the entire Catania region (which includes those from the surrounding towns of Belpasso, Nicolosi, etc.). They have many differing dishes and take great care to make sure you are happy. They are also known for their wonderful pizza. I recommend this place to anyone that wishes to surround themselves with the ambience of a large Sicilian town, where in the restaurant will be families, couples, groups, and outside are the sounds of the ice-skating rink, a soccer game going on, teenagers hanging out, and your basic Sicilian life.
