We had a delightful lunch here following the recommendation of a stranger in front of the Piazza Reale. After our morning tour we we were trying to determine how to navigate to a particular restaurant for lunch. He offered to help and pointed out that our choice was only open for dinner. Based on our original choice of restaurant he highly recommended Arcadia in the Galleria, stressing the economical fixed price menus.

He was right. Unlike many Menu Turisticos that are tourist traps, the monopiatti menus here offer an entree and vegetable, water, glass of wine, dessert, and coffee for prices ranging from 12-22 euros. The 10 or 12 choices are quite extensive and include several sushi options.

We ordered one monopiatto meal and one off the full menu. We both were served a tiny dish of eggplant to start, as was every other diner. The monopiatto choice featured veal scallopine.

I was intrigued by the menu options and began with a plate with several slices of a delicious terrine of rabbit with medallions of foie gras which we both shared. I followed this with fried brains (cervelo) and fried tender vegetables (zucchini and artichoke). I was allowed to eat this course by myself. We shared the dessert and I drank the coffee.

With water, a half bottle of a Franciacorta Brut, a monopiatto o 14.80 euros, and my two courses the bill was 65 euros.

The elegant dining room featuring what appeared to be Roman stone columns supporting an incredibly high ceiling was filled with local businessmen, many of whom were enjoying the Japanaese monopiatti meals featuring sushi.
