Directions: Close to the pinacoteca We spotted this place on our last day in Siena and couldn't resist some very interesting specials, even though we knew we'd be eating a big dinner later that night. It's right on Via San Pietro, just a few doors down from the Pinacoteca. The upstairs is fairly small, but there's another large dining room downstairs. The crowd seemed to be a mix of tourists and locals. I think everything we ordered was on the daily specials menu, so we didn't pay a lot of attention to the regular menu. Service was quick - I think we finished three courses in just over an hour which I would ordinarily consider too fast but didn't mind on this occasion. Kim started with crostini topped with zucchini and gorgonzola. I had fresh tagliatelle with a tomato and pancetta sauce which was outstanding. We both followed with chicken breast pieces in a porcini sauce served with roasted potatoes. We were stuffed, but couldn't resist a couple of dessert specials, a warm chocolate cake with a dark chocolate sauce and a chocolate semifreddo with the same sauce. Both were a chocolate lover's heaven! We had a nice bottle of Vernaccia di San Gimignano and water, and lunch cost just over €55.
