Cozy place for lunch

Directions: On the corner of via San Francesco and via Cavour

May 2006: This restaurant is in a cellar of an old building next to the Church of San Francesco. There are frescos on the walls and ceilings making it an enjoyable place to dine. I had ribollita, followed by Lomba (sliced pork), which was served with Tuscan white beans and polenta. I also had Vin Santo and biscotti for dessert; however, the waiter also brought me a delicous cake. Everything was very good. €16 total. This place fills up quickly so get there when it opens or make reservations.

What a setting and what a meal. Another Buon Ricordo recommendation. The owner is a dapper energetic gentleman who is delighted that you collect "the plates".

The setting of this below street level restaurant, right alongside the Church of San Francesco, is enough to recommend it. The building is structurally original from an ancient church, the floor is the original paving stones from an Etruscan street, only the frescoes are reproduced.

The menu is varied, the food very well prepared, the Buon Ricordo special fantastic, the service is attentive and I only wish we were staying longer than a day so we could eat here once more.

Lunch for 2 under €60.
