Sophisticated restaurant with Antinori wine ... of course!

This was my favorite meal in Florence last year, so I had looked forward to it with much anticipation for my last meal in Florence this year. It was still very good but not as outstanding as last year. This may be because I sat at the bar by myself last year and the staff was very attentive. It was also my first experience in Florence of a pairing glasses of different wines with course selections.

Last year, the restaurant was packed with both tourists and locals. On this Wednesday night it was very quiet and the predominant diners were American. Perhaps that is why it didn't live up to my high expectations?

We started with a very good mushroom and artichoke salad and a prosecco. We then had a pasta dish paired with a Peppolini wine. Wine was very good; pasta was, too - just not outstanding. I think we then had a risotto with a Brunello. Wine was excellent; risotto good but nothing out of the ordinary. We ended with a very good torta and some San Vino. This was a lovely meal in a lovely setting with attentive service; it was just not as good as I remembered. It is also in the expensive category. I would be willing to try it again to see which experience is the norm.
