Ortisei: Cascade

Reviewed by: caplanco from CO, review #2192

When: 2006

Warm friendly family restaurant with reasonable prices and good food.

The four of us had walked by Ristorante Cascade several times as it was a short distance from our apartment and on the same side of the river. We knew nothing about it, and it turned out to be a delightful place with good food and wine for the same price we'd paid the night before in a fancy hotel restaurant which had very mediocre food in an empty room.

The place was almost filled and there was a nice buzz. It had a Sud Tirol look with wooden beams and checkered tablecloths. We had a nice waitress who answered our quetions patiently.

We had bruschetta and lasagnetta as antipasti. For primi: ravioli with spinach in a butter sauce; grilled trout; the vegetarian helped herself from the plentiful salad bar and had another order of the lasagnette; trorette pasta with meat and mushrooms. All was very good.

Our vegetarian is also a chocoholic and she ordered a chocolate truffle for dessert, which was a semifreddo large enough for all of us to share.
