Each time I go to Chez Black, it feels more like home. The food is wonderful. My friends agreed, they loved it. View, priceless! Food, Wonderful as always.

Directions: Walk all the way down to the beach

Down on the main strip, right on the boardwalk and sandy beach. You can have a fabulous dinner all the while watching all the beautiful people walk by. A view that is out of this world. GianFranco and the Russo family made us feel like old friends.

The menu, not overpriced and delicious food, unbelievable location. Right on the beach and less expensive than other restaurants. We had limoncello every time we went, from our waiter. Our waiter always remembered us, and gave me a recipe secret on our last night there…..I’ll never tell.

The food is fantastic. I do not understand how anyone could have had a bad meal here, or bad service. They are wonderful. I have gone there every time I am on the Amalfi Coast, several times. This time we went more than usual, the girls loved it here. We are three women in our sixties, so we are picky!

It became their favorite place also. We must have gone for lunch or dinner a dozen times. Each time was the food was excellent, the service great.

We had over several weeks, veal marsala, four cheese flat noodles, These two are a must have!!

Spaghetti con vongole, gnocchi with tomato and mozzarella, grilled local fish & shellfish plate by far beyond excellent, also great lasagne! Caprese salad , best in Italy, but not as good as I made while we were there.

The pizza is great also baked in a open brick fire oven. You could not ask for more. Had a fabulous lemon dessert that melted in your mouth, also a bomb chocolate one also. YUMMMMY

Mimosas, Bellinis, limoncello, wine - lots of wine. Try lunch, if you ove it go back another time for dinner, I think you will love it.

Beautiful, romantic, perfect location right on the beach. The restaurant where the famous people eat.

On our wedding anniversary night we left our son with friends and went to Chez Black for a romantic dinner.

And romantic it was.

Chez Black must be one of the oldest restaurants in Positano; it's celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. On the walls there are loads of pictures with celebrities such as Denzel Washington. We were lucky to get there early, as we didn't have a reservation, because by the time we had finished our dinner the restaurant was crowded and there were even people waiting outside for their turn. Nevertheless, it was one of the most genuinely positive experiences I have had in an Italian restaurant. We had three or four waiters serving us, and they were all very attentive and nice. They speak English, but if you speak Italian they are happy to acknowledge your attempt and reply in Italian.

The meal was outstanding, all the way from the aperitivi through tortellini in brodo and pollo al diavolo with complimentary red wine to the finishing dessert - our choice was the fruit salad (macedonia) with home made icecream which was the most delicious icecream I've ever tasted. The final bill ended on €130 but the icecream alone would have been worth that...

Great pizza and people watching at Spiaggia Grande

Located on the main thouroughfare on the beach, Chez Black is a lively and fun spot to people watch while enjoying a tasty pizza. For Sunday pranzo, there were several large Italian groups and families as well as tourists. The insalata mista and caprese were very good and the eggplant pizza was delicious. Reasonably priced for lunch on the beach. Also recommended by Mario Batali of the food network and NYC restaurant fame.

Wonderful restaurant in Positano.

Directions: Spiaggia Grande

Chez Black is located right on the Spiaggia Grande so it's the perfect location to sit outside and watch all the hustle and bustle of the tourists and the people at the beach. The restaurant is celebrating its 30th year this year (so you know it's a great place to eat).

The seafood is wonderful and the waiters are incredibly friendly. We were given free desserts on our first night there and complimentary limoncellos both nights. We ate there both nights we were in Positano.

Additionally, we were two (relatively) young women trying to keep the prices down overall on our trip, and we felt the prices here were very reasonable. For more information you can go to their web site: www.chezblack.it .

Fabulous food, great place!

Our first night in Positano (and Italy), we ate dinner here. The food was marvelous and the ambience, very upbeat and energetic (which we needed coming all they way from CA to Positano and having been awake for 30 hrs straight)! The restaurant was packed and located in the center of town overlooking the sea. I ordered a pizza which they made in the shape of a heart!!!

If you are in the mood for a quiet dinner, this is not the place; in that case, go to Le Sirenuse (see my review). Enjoy!!
