I know that other Slow Travelers have eaten here and enjoyed it, but, unfortunately our experience there proves that even the best places can have an off day.

We chose to eat there for lunch while visiting Portovenere. The location is wonderful as it is right on the waterfront and is great for people-watching. We each ordered a seafood salad (there are several types from which to choose) and we ordered a pasta dish to share. (We had seen some of the pasta plates and the portion looked pretty generous.) Our salads arrived promptly, and then we apparently became invisible. Other customers arrived, ordered, and ate while we sat with our empty salad plates in front of us. Finally a waiter arrived and asked what else we had ordered. We then waited again for what seemed like forever until our pasta finally arrived.

It’s hard to say that the service was poor because it only seemed to be poor for us; the other customers appeared to be getting excellent service. For us, this was a disappointment.
