S. Fruttuoso di Camogli: da Laura

We still dream of Nonna's pasta in this fabulous trattoria

Directions: As you get off the ferry at S. Fruttuoso it is on the right side of the beach as you're facing the Abbey

We took a ferry over to San Fruttuoso on a rather rough day. Therefore, there were very few people visiting the abbey that day and only 2 restaurants open. We lucked out when we walked into da Laura. This is the spaghetti vongele that we hold as the gold standard as we try this dish wherever we go. It has not been beat yet. This tiny restaurant is on an open terrace on the beach. Nonna is stirring a big pot of pasta in boiling water and we watch her mastery from our table. I had a very good pesto lasagna but once I tasted my husband's vongole I was very jealous. This was perfection! We mopped up the sauce with our bread and had some good house wine. The service was very friendly and they were very happy when I asked for the restaurant's card- though they had to go search for one. If I return to the Ligurian coast, I will be stopping here to re-live this perfect and very inexpensive meal!
